As soon as I saw the ‘In Real Life’ brief, the adjective “unforgettable” stood out to me. It reminded me of people who are classed as forgotten – the Jane and John Does of the world. I have been a true crime fanatic for as long as I can remember, so I decided it would only be appropriate if I created art to pay homage to unidentified persons; to represent and honour those forgotten due to time-inflicted amnesia. It pains me that parents have spent their lives searching for lost beloved children, dying without answers. Unidentified cadavers are put in unmarked resting places; no sentimental messages on gravestones, no recognition that they deserve. I believe that this lack of persona and care prevents the appropriate closure for, not only the spirits of the nameless, but their families too. It is a dark, melancholic and sensitive subject; however, it is sadly reality.
