My work for exhibition has developed into something I had not expected. The original intention was to consider mental health and raise awareness. For example, 1 in 4 people will suffer from some form of mental health issue in their lifetime. However, with the current situation, my project naturally turned to thinking about the coronavirus pandemic, and was an opportunity to help me, but also others process this difficult situation.
The work I am presenting takes inspiration from graphic designers such as Alan Fletcher and Peter Saville. Daily briefings and news reports bring us new phrases and statistics that have become part of our language and how we communicate and reflect on our current climate. I have taken some of these words and figures and interpreted them into pieces that reflect how I feel about my own circumstances and to hopefully reflect how others are feeling too.
